Reservoir AccessoriesWhen a hydraulic system’s contamination levels are unacceptably high, inadequate inline filters may or may not be the lone culprit. Installing an efficient air breather, filler strainer or suction separator can be a critical yet often overlooked component when system filtration is considered. Air BreathersOn systems operating in dusty atmospheric conditions that experience significant changes in reservoir levels, the use of an air breather will minimize the ingestion of airborne particles as the fluid level drops. By lowering the rate of ingression of dirt, the contamination level of the system will be reduced and the service life of the system’s fluid filters will be increased. Click here to view CatalogABF 3/10![]() Schroeder ABF air breathers allow high capacity air flows and are available with both NPT and flange adapters. A customized dipstick can be added to breathers with the flange style adapter. All flange style air breathers possess the same high capacity air flows as the breathers with NPT adapter. Click here to view CatalogPlastic Air Breathers![]() The new Schroeder Plastic Air Breather comes with a visual indicator and replaceable element. A reset button will return the indicator to its original setting after a new element cartridge is inserted. This breather is intended for use with reservoirs from 5 to 105 gallons in size. Click here to view CatalogDesiccant Air Breathers![]() Schroeder desiccant breathers are designed to increase operational efficiency while reducing costs by protecting industrial systems from moisture and particulate contaminants. They are made with environmentally disposable silica gel, which adsorbs and traps moisture. Use of a desiccant breather keeps air entering a reservoir clean and dry. ![]() The Schroeder D-AB-2 and D-AB-4 desiccant filter breathers feature a dual filtration process, removing water as well as solid contaminants (2 and 4 micron absolute), respectively. Moisture can decrease a fluid’s stability and reduce its service life, as well as cause oxidation and rust. The R-AB-4 features inlet and outlet check valves located in the reusable cap (head). These innovative valves control both the airflow into the reservoir and the airflow out of the reservoir. This results in a longer life for the desiccant by allowing the air to flow through the breather only when needed to protect the integrity of the reservoir by establishing the thresholds of vacuum (air in) and pressure (air out). The R-AB-4 also includes a reusable top cap which allows for the economic replacement of the desiccant cartridge. Click here to view CatalogFiller Strainer Assemblies![]() The amount of debris introduced during the fluid replenishment process can be minimized with the use of a filler strainer. Installing a strainer on the suction line inside a reservoir will stop the larger pieces of unwanted debris, such as nuts, bolts, cleaning rags and other miscellaneous items, from causing catastrophic problems downstream. Click here to view CatalogMagnetic Suction Separators![]() Our magnetic suction strainers provide suction line filtration without starving the pump. Large ceramic magnets are spaced along the length of the separator to attract ferrous particles before they have a chance to jam a gear tooth or impeller blade downstream. Schroeder SKB’s are available with pipe thread connections s ranging from 1 to 3 inches. Schroeder also offers in-line filter housings equipped with these elements. Click here to view CatalogSuction Strainers![]() These all metal suction strainers are furnished with optimized pleat size and screen area for extended life and low pressure drop. These strainers can handle temperatures up to 250°F (121°C). Porting head is carbon steel, while the center core is plated perforated steel. |
