New D5 Indicators
As part of Schroeder’s commitment to “continuously improve”, our D5 visual pop-up indicator has been redesigned.  The new design offers improved performance, is impervious to water and dust, and is easier to install in the field.  Click here to view a drawing that provides a comparison of the old vs. new D5 indicator.  On the drawing, you will see that an additional indicator, the D10, is also available.  The new D5 is a latching indicator;  the D10 is a non-latching style, meaning that it has no memory; ie, the indicator setting is lost when the operating system is shut down.  Please be advised that there is a slight increase in the height of the new indicators, which amounts to 0.40 inches for the D5 and 0.28 inches for the D10.

The code “D5” will still be used to call out this indicator in the filter assembly part number. However, the new D5 will have a new part numbering scheme when purchased as a separate piece.  As you may be aware, the D5 indicator is available with different bypass settings.  Click here to view the cross reference of part numbers for the old style D5 to the new style D5 when purchased as a stand alone item as well as the coding system for indicator part numbers.  Please note that the stainless steel versions are specified by including “SS” in the model code.  This replaces the previous “D9” specification in a filter assembly to denote a stainless steel D5.  The design of the D8 indicator, which is a D5 with the thermal lockout feature, is not being changed at this time.

Product improvements include:

  • Easier to install (the new D5 indicator is supplied as a single assembly and can now be installed in a single operation instead of installing it in pieces)
  • Improved performance (the mode of operation results in a  clearly discernable red or green color indication, eliminating any guesswork on the part of the user)
  • Improved design (the new design is completely sealed and is waterproof and dustproof)

Net prices of the new D5 are identical to those of the old D5.  The changeover from the old style to new style will begin the week of November 17 with the new style being phased in as the old styles are depleted.  Once inventory of the old style D5 indicators have been depleted, they will no longer be available.
